Mentors
-
Anyone can be a mentor, the only criteria is that you are currently working in the film & TV industry.
-
Our aim is to replicate how people actually get into the industry so each mentorship varies greatly. Some mentees only require career guidance and introduction to resources. Some mentors like to bring their mentees on to jobs with them and develop strong working relationships. it’s completely up to you!
-
You and your mentee will be put in an email together. Most pairings like to organise an initial facetime/video call just to meet. From there the two of you will figure out what you want the mentorship to look like. It will be unique to you, depending on how much time you have, what sort of support you can provide and what your mentee needs from you. We will check in on you both after a few months.
-
This varies greatly as it depends on what kind of demand we get from mentees. We do match-ups every 3 months but if there is low demand for your particular department it will take longer.
-
Other than introducing you to your mentee, TEL are very hands off. We will check in with you every so often but will always be here for any kind of support you need.

We volunteer our time and any expenses come out of our own pockets.

We have decided to no longer host a crew database as the phenomenon of POC being hired solely to tick a box is something we feel we don’t want to contribute to.
We don’t feel like we are able to eliminate tokenism this way so are focussing on just being a mentoring scheme.
Great resources of/for POC Crew are available at - Look Beyond The List
