Our eligibility criteria for mentees is that you are a person of colour. i.e you are part of the global majority (of black, asian or minority ethnic descent).
You must be over 18 and a UK Resident.

Each year we take in a small cohort of mentees who we match with mentors in their desired departments. These mentees are supported throughout the year continuing to support them at every level of their careers. Diversity is not just for trainees and entry level positions.

Anyone can be a mentor, the only criteria is that you are currently working in the film & TV industry.

The Equity List is run by Mahalia John, Lali Coombes and Ant Belle. Three Camera Assistants who fit TEL work around our actual jobs. You can find more info on our About Us page.

We volunteer our time and any expenses come out of our own pockets.

We have decided to no longer host a crew database as the phenomenon of POC being hired solely to tick a box is something we feel we don’t want to contribute to.
We don’t feel like we are able to eliminate tokenism this way so are focussing on just being a mentoring scheme.

We hold a series of workshops providing comprehensive breakdowns of the various departments across the film industry. In these we gauge interest and compatibility of applicants to our scheme. These will be on zoom and in person. The final stage is one on one interviews, successful applicants will be matched with a wonderful mentor after this.

Since the SAG-AFTRA strikes, the UK film industry has shrunk massively. There is much less work and fewer entry level opportunities - we’ve reduced our cohort in response to this. Our time and resources will do more good on a smaller scale.
